Should I use my cats' fur to make a diamond?

I remember hearing about this company LifeGem when it started in 2002, and it has stuck with me a long time.  It operates on the simple premise carbon + pressure = diamonds.  Actually, their big advance was finding a way to extract the carbon from the cremation ashes/locks of hair.
After combustion of the remains has progressed to the point of revealing carbonized remains such as organ tissue, the operator separates the carbonized remains from the rest of the remains. Organ tissue is the preferred tissue to collect carbon from since it will not reduce to bone ash, as will bones. The separation of carbonized tissue is preferably accomplished using a tool normally used for repositioning the remains during cremation. 
...After the tissue is collected in the box, the operator tips it back upright, places the cover on top and leaves the collection box in the retort while the rest of the cremation is being performed. ...this container serves to substantially prevent or at least reduce oxidation of the tissue to carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, or other gaseous carbon products and to at least substantially reduce the carbonized tissue to carbon without allowing the carbon to be consumed by combustion or mixed with a substantial quantity of bone that is reduced to calcium and/or ash. 
...The collection box preferably remains within the retort until the entire cremation is complete and the metal collection box is no longer glowing from the heat. ... the particle size of the collected carbon is preferably reduced by suitably mechanically agitating the remains into a consistency appropriate for disposition...This collected carbon is then suitable for the purification and graphitizing steps. 
To sum up:
  1. start cremating the dead person's body 
  2. when the carbon-rich organs become visible, scoop them out and put in airtight metal box  
  3. put the metal box back in with the body and finish cremation 
  4. wait for the metal box to cool before handling  (did that really need to go into the patent?)
  5. sift the contents of the box to remove lumps
Then they use the established high temperature high pressure (HTHP) of making synthetic diamonds.  Similar companies exist, but I think LifeGem's PR department gives it the edge.  It has sold diamonds made of the hair of Michael Jackson and Beethoven.

Is it crazy to gather up all the fur my cats shed and make it into a diamond?  Yes.  Is it crazier to pay thousands of dollars for a diamond made of carbon-based lifeforms I never even met and probably weren't even that cute?
